Family: Poaceae
Palmarosa is a tall herbaceous plant of the citronella family, which grows in tufts in tropical areas. Its delicate fragrance is close to the rose and geranium. As a result, it has been used to cut or falsify the rose essential oil very expensive.
In addition, in Ayurvedic medicine, the Palmarosa is useful for its anti-diabetic, anti-infectious and diuretic properties.
The genus “Cymbopogon” includes about fifty species native to Asia. Not all of them provide essential oils. You can find for example:
Cymbopogon nardus EO: the Ceylon lemongrass, that is the most used.
Cymbopogon winterianus is Java citronella EO.
